Spammers are scum

Naming and shaming spammers is about as good as it gets.

I get sick to the back teeth of scumbag spammers, so I have decided to fight back. Fighting back means making full disclosure, so here goes.

Lets look at the “email trail” from this particular dumb-ass spammer. I am re=-producing this here so whenever someone does a google search for these people, they will know what they are really like.

Lets start with the original spam sent on the 5th Dec 2011

Just wanted to know if you allow links on your site. The link would be back to one of the top poker rooms in the world whose online presence I am currently working to enhance.
The best news is that if you're happy to include a link on your site, then we would like to send you some high quality branded poker goodies such as hoodies and poker cards. These would be posted to you immediately after the link is posted on the condition that you agree to keep it on your site for a set time period - usually 12 months or permanently (with permanently being our preferred option)
Please let me know your thoughts on this proposal and I look forward to hearing back from you.

You wish me to "give" you a 12 month link in exchange for some stuff that I do not even have an interest in.  You would get something that you really want, and I would get well, nothing.
How about this, since you are promoting one of the biggest poker rooms, you would be making one of the biggest Incomes on the net (as gambling is only 2nd behind porn in Internet earnings), so I will make a counter-offer.
How about you pay me $120/year and I will put a link to your poker site on my blog.

I thought that I was having a deja-vu, but sure enough, exactly the same email from exactly the same spam bot!

Anyway, I sent 2 replies back to Maria, The first of which I won’t share - it was rather rude and disgusting, but then again, so is getting spam.

My 2nd reply, I am posting below, so it is a matter of public record

We would be delighted if we could establish an ongoing relationship with your company.
Our rates are reasonable for our effort involved, a mere $500/word.
In order to enter a contractual arrangement with us, all you need to do is to send email to us.
You see, sending any email from your domain to us is deemed by us to be acceptance of a contract for us to proof-read your spam at the above mentioned rate.

We really hope that you are wanting to enter into a long-term agreement with us and keep sending spam, we would really love to buy a new Ferrarri!

In all honesty, I have found that the above message has been one of the most effective at stopping spam. I never click on an unsubscribe link when I get spammed, I simply send a variation of the above message begging them to leave me on their list!
